Valid 31 October 2009
Sussi and Chuma Lodge is named after two of David Livingstone’s faithful friends, who carried his body from the interior to the British Embassy at Dar-Es-Salaam. This romantic and exclusive lodge is built amongst giant ebony trees, on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River, within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and just 9km upstream from the majestic Victoria Falls. The lodge is open all year round and will gladly accommodate children, however due to wildlife in the area and raised walkways, children under 6 years of age will only be accommodated by special request.
ACCOMMODATION
At present the lodge accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in seven twin and three double lodges (luxury tree houses, raised on stilts above the ground). Each of these elegant and spacious thatched lodges have
en-suite facilities with toilet, “his” and “hers” wash basin, shower and a large bath. In each of the lodges there are tea/coffee making facilities, bar fridge, hair dryer, umbrellas (which may also be used at The Falls), electricity and electrical points, fan, electric blankets for winter months, mosquito nets, cupboard and a laundry basket. Two large wooden folding/sliding doors open up onto a private wooden viewing deck with chairs and a lovely view of the river and bush. For the “romantics”, the shower and bath are open plan and with these doors open, one looks out onto the African bush and Zambezi River below. Please note that due to safety reasons, guests may not smoke in the rooms – however smoking on the private deck and also in and around the main boma/entertainment area is allowed. All the lodges are joined together by a wooden walkway, raised above ground level, built amongst large trees and all leading to the main boma and entertainment area. The main
boma/entertainment area (a large double storey thatched building) houses a small library, curio shop, bar, lounge, an open-air braai/barbecue area and dining room. There is also a wooden viewing/relaxation deck with a large plunge pool and loungers, again overlooking the Zambezi River.

FOOD AND DRINK
Whilst at Sussi and Chuma Lodge clients will enjoy three full meals per day, served at the usually accepted times but this is dependant on activities and may vary seasonally. There are a variety of dishes offered at meal times and the food is of high quality. All drinks (obviously within reason), ranging from cordials, minerals, local beers and wines (both Zimbabwean and Zambian) are supplied, but spirits are excluded.
ACTIVITIES
Whilst at the lodge a personal guide will be assigned to each couple/booking who will attend to all his clients needs during their stay. He will also undertake all the activities with his guests. Guests may choose two activities per night from the following selection:-
* National Park entry fees are included in these activities, but should guests require more than one game drive or guided tour of The Victoria Falls, the additional entry fee/s must be settled direct by the guest.

The bird life in the area is also very good. View points are “strung” out around the lodge where guests may sit and enjoy the African bush.
